Well, I finally talked the old man into getting a new house for the beast. She is a 95 lb. Lab and she needed something to protect her from the Buffalo cold and wind that is on its way.
I shopped around and found this model and I think I found it for the best price ($179). It’s wooden with asphalt roof and is pretty sturdy. It went together very easily and I think it will provide a better and warmer place than the plastic dog house we had before. There were some that were a lot more expensive and some were pretty ugly so I settled on this. It is called the “County Estate Dog Home”. I never thought my dog would have a county estate. I decided not to order the heated floor pad or heated water bowl but who knows, I may succumb when the snow starts flying. I think most true “county estates” probably have these items but I am pretty cheap.
This actually has little decorative wooden swirls around the door opening and seems to be pretty air tight, yet has some ventilation through the roof. The dog went into it right away and she seems to really like it. It is about 2 inches off the ground so it won’t get too wet, which was a problem with the plastic model we had. We got the large size and she fits into it with plenty or room to spare so I think even a larger dog would do just fine.
I am very pleased with my purchase and so is the pooch.
